Protofire would like to propose a partnership with Klaytn to help the ecosystem grow by making highly accessible nodes available to the many builders on the network. We see this engagement as an investment on the long-term growth of Klaytn. The collaboration will entail an engineering effort to make nodes available for the Klaytn communities to support the growth of the ecosystem.

Our RPC Node Hosting Services are designed to offer seamless and efficient access to the blockchain through reliable remote procedure call nodes. We have a team of skilled DevOps engineers who possess extensive experience in hosting RPC nodes for a variety of blockchain networks. This expertise ensures that your RPC nodes will be set up, configured, and maintained with the utmost care and attention to detail. We offer the flexibility of hosting on well-established cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Hetzner, OVH, Latitude, and Digital Ocean, as well as on robust bare-metal servers. This allows us to tailor the hosting environment to your specific preferences and requirements.

Size of grant in KLAY:
$20,000 yearly for 1 RPC node (mainnet) + infrastructure costs (TBD).
2320 KLAY (19/09/23 price) + infrastructure costs (TBD).

Specific and measurable milestones:

  1. Discovery phase:
    -Initial setup of the nodes
    -Performance testing
    -Define milestones and estimations

  2. Development phase:
    -Deploy the infrastructure manually
    -Onboard a limited set of beta-tester users and tune infrastructure based on the feedback loop
    -Go live, on-board and attract users

  3. Optimization and support:
    -Wrapping the infrastructure through the infra as code(IaC) approach
    -Continuous optimization
    -Monitoring
    -Status pages
    -Communication channels
    -Custom DevOps solutions and infra best practices for your network needs

I think Klaytn already has quite a few services that provide RPC node, personally don’t see the benefit of paying someone to run an RPC node when there is many public RPC nodes.

Thanks for the comment @kevinblaese1991. The idea is to expand the list of service providers on the network in order to improve decentralization, which may in turn reduce potential risks and provide a greater range of distribution of the nodes provided.

Also, community-owned nodes certainly have their value, but they don’t provide any guarantees, so the SLA-backed hosted nodes have their benefits.

Allthatnode is already providing Klaytn RPC node service. Users pay for their services as they use them.

Thank you for your reply @Creder-Itcen! That is indeed a very smart way of doing things in order for the network to be maintained in a sustainable way. We also provide that for some of our partners, and we would be willing to do the same with Klaytn. Thanks for the idea :pray:
